While researching the many lemon cakes on offer, I got the impression that this place specializes in using ingredients from Hiroshima, so I decided to visit it during my trip.
First, I bought a standard lemon-flavored cake box for souvenirs for my parents' and in-laws' houses, as well as one for myself.
When I was paying, I also bought some freshly baked lemon and limited-edition chocolate flavors that were next to the register to eat inside the station.
I immediately tried it on a bench inside the station.
From the first bite, the fluffy, crispy dough with its sweet and sour taste and gentle sweetness from the large peels of Setoda lemons is just too delicious!!!
The chocolate flavor is not too sweet and bitter with a hint of lemon...
We decided to just try it here first, but everyone got so enthusiastic about it that we finished it in no time.
Since I came all the way from Aichi, I thought to myself, "I might as well buy some more since they're hard to come by!", and bought some other flavors, including bitter and green lemon.
In the end, we happily purchased several times more than we had originally planned, and it was an unexpected and welcome expense (we were happy to find a snack that made everyone in the family smile at the first bite, saying how delicious it was!).
If I come to Hiroshima again, I'm looking forward to buying lots of freshly baked bread and individually wrapped souvenir boxes.
To everyone in Hiroshima and Setoda, please support us by purchasing delicious lemon cakes!!
