    Hiroshima Prefectural Bar Ekimae Branch

    Recommended
    Menu
Koune / Small sardine tempura / Gansu / Sea urchin and spinach / Senjigara shells

This is the thinnest restaurant in Hiroshima, no, Japan, no, the world! Seriously. Conveniently located in front of Hiroshima Station, the building has a unique shape, with the edge of the restaurant measuring approximately 30cm (measured from inside the restaurant). This thin, long, and narrow izakaya has a counter structure with seating arranged in a horizontal row. It's amazing how they even prepare their food! While there are many local regulars, the name and location attract many customers from outside the prefecture. Sharing drinks together in such a small space really helps to create friendships! It's amazing how close everyone is! Also, you can eat Hiroshima specialties at prices that are truly the best in Hiroshima! It's unpretentious, exuding a local vibe, making it the ultimate bar for locals! Our goal is to have a red noren curtain! It's totally fine even if you're just starting out! We're open until late at night! Come and visit!

    Akatsuki smoke “Smoke of Dawn”

    Recommended
    Menu
Local Hiroshima delicacies that can only be enjoyed now

As the name suggests, this restaurant offers creative cuisine utilizing smoking techniques. Specializing in not only smoking but also fermentation, they create a variety of dishes. For example, even the salt they sprinkle on their dishes is smoked, and even the water they use is sourced from a famous spot in Hiroshima, driving hours to source it. They carefully select local ingredients, including Hiroshima game meat. They create dishes with a level of dedication that would be impossible to achieve in sane circumstances. Their creative dishes, both a la carte and course menus, are surprisingly affordable! You'll probably be surprised. The dishes change with the seasons, so inquire. Another highlight of this restaurant is the sake. The owner is a chef with unusual tastes, but the sake he carefully selects is also incredible. They offer a wide selection of organic sake, and will make you wonder: rice and water can taste so good! This small restaurant showcases the power of fermentation, the depth of smoking, and the possibilities of cooking. The owner may seem like a difficult person, but he's actually a laid-back, mascot character. Thank you for always inspiring me.

A butcher shop by day, and a standing bar by night. This is a corner bar style shop where you can drink inside a butcher shop. Open from 6pm. They have a reasonably priced menu that you can enjoy with your drinks. Many customers come alone or in groups of one or two. Their recommended dish is grilled salted coriander.

When asked, "What's the best place to eat in Hiroshima?", the first place that comes to mind is "Hiroki"! It's easily accessible, just a 10-minute walk from the Atomic Bomb Dome. The manager is cheerful and welcoming, and it's also a great place for women. Sitting at the counter lets you watch the chef use the spatula right before your eyes, creating a lively atmosphere and a fun experience! Whether you sit at a table or in the tatami room, the food is served on a hot plate, so you can enjoy piping hot food wherever you are. They use locally sourced ingredients, and just looking at the menu is exciting! The "Hiroki Special" is a classic and delicious dish, but my favorite is the "Hiroki Mexican," which includes jalapeños and chili sauce. It's a combination you don't often see at Okonomiyaki, and is irresistible for spicy food lovers! The noodles are crispy and always delicious! They also offer Okonomiyaki made with "Miyoshi Karamen," and they have a wide selection of side dishes and drinks, so I think people of all ages can enjoy it. "Hiroki" is a recommended restaurant that gives you a real Hiroshima feel, so be sure to check it out!!!

They serve original spicy dishes made with local seasonal ingredients and vegetables they grow themselves. They have a standard menu, but each dish is unique to the ingredients they use and is a delight to the tongue and body. While this type of cuisine can sometimes seem intimidating, Sanshouo's food is somehow friendly and approachable. They generally serve dishes that go well with sake, but even non-drinkers can enjoy it, albeit with a little hesitation.
