We visited Gruta, a restaurant located in a residential area in Nishi Ward, Hiroshima City, that serves Italian cuisine using seasonal ingredients, mainly from Hiroshima Prefecture.

Mr. Tsuruta, who runs ``Gruta'', has a history of being selected as the top performer in the Western food category of the ``4th Chef Competition'' sponsored by Hiroshima Prefecture. After learning her basics at a hotel's Italian restaurant, she trained in Italy and opened the same restaurant. She serves food at ``Gruta'' at lunch and dinner times, and reservations are required for dinner time.

When I went to Italy for training, I learned that Italy also has spring, summer, fall, and winter, and offers dishes with a seasonal feel, so I continued to serve dishes using seasonal ingredients, mainly products from Hiroshima Prefecture.
