The contestants were divided into red and white teams and competed against each other based on the recommended menu themes of 1 cities and towns in the prefecture.
Four judges tasted and scored the local favorite foods prepared by each team. The winner was decided by taking into account the points from previous SNS favorite battles.
In the end, the Red Team won by a narrow margin, but after the competition, both teams congratulated each other at the venue, interacted with each other, and seemed to have made friends who are helping to promote Hiroshima food.
The winning team was presented with a victory cup by Chef Yoshino on behalf of the judges.
The red and white teams each prepared dishes for the match. From single items to boxed lunches, the dishes were packed with the appeal of local cuisine.
Participants gave presentations on the dishes they had prepared at the venue for each red and white match. They communicated many things they wanted to promote, such as the appeal of their region and the background behind the development of their menu, within the limited time of one minute.
The judges (from left: Governor Yuzaki, Mr. Yoshino, Mr. Fujioka, and Mr. Kitaoka) responded to these wishes by tasting the entries carefully and offering comments to help improve them.
(Excerpts from comments below)
Governor: I discovered some delicious ingredients that I had never imagined coming from that region, and it was a new discovery.
(From a comment on the Setouchi Fried Fish Showdown!)
Yoshino: Hiroshima is blessed with the bounty of both the mountains and the sea, and the temperature varies widely. This blessed environment allows us to have a wide range of good ingredients.
I think everyone who gathered here was very motivated, so I think that with a little more effort we can take the performance to the next level.
I hope everyone does their best.
(From the general comment)
Mr. Fujioka: Tourists from outside the prefecture and the Tokyo metropolitan area are interested in new dishes, but also in dishes with a story behind them that have been eaten in the area for a long time.
I think it's great that such information is being shared on opportunities like this.
(From the general comment)
Mr. Kitaoka: I think it makes the most of the flavor of the Setouchi fish, and has a really good taste. Please keep up the good work.
(From a comment in "Tai Battle!")
Some of the judges' comments were insightful, with a view to improving the appeal of local food in the future, and the participants will no doubt take these as inspiration to aim for further improvement.
Not only did the participants give positive comments, but they also expressed positive opinions, saying that the points they had made could be used in the future.
Through FooDrinpic, we have discovered many recommended foods from all over Hiroshima. We plan to further refine these and promote their appeal both within and outside the prefecture.
Please keep an eye on A Taste of HIROSHIMA's future activities.
Delicious! Hiroshima's "Tabensai" presents a diverse selection of Hiroshima-style menus and products. Delicious Hiroshima! Please enjoy.
